Nicole Kidman icons

Hullo ^___^ Most of the material on this post concerns

Today's been by far too lazy.. (so much more than it should have, considering I have this huge frightening test on Tuesday >.< ) Among other things, I've tried [info]killthwight's patience *winks* and made the latest half of my batch of Nicole Kidman icons. I own the idea entirely to Lilith, who pointed me to a collage featuring Nic a few days ago. I started looking up pics, and if we're lucky enough, [info]killthwight will be making Kidman icons too!!

EDIT: Check out Lilith's Pride and Prejudice icons. I can't find the right words to thank her for gifting me with the brilliant book, and she's outdone herself with the new layout and this fabulously clever, witty and artsy set of icons!

I really admire this woman. She's a brilliant actress who possesses talent and beauty to measure, and, what's more admirable, discerniment. I know not much of her personal life, but from the roles she accepts and the way she chooses to go about them, it becomes rather obvious that Nicole is a very intelligent woman who dares to investigate the human soul, alternating instigating films with the good ol' romantic heroine parts. Birth (2004), Dogville (2003), Cold Mountain (2003), Birthday Girl (2002), Moulin Rouge (2000) and Eyes Wide Shut (1999) are among some of my favourites. I didn't quite get The Human Stain, and am too chicken to watch The Hours, as it is. But I think I can safely vouch for Nicole Kidman's work.

As on my latest icon-batches, I've tried to use mostly pictures from magazines and photoshoots. There are lots of Vogue, Vanity Fair and even some Rolling Stone pictures behind the bases. Differently from the people I've last iconised, Nicole isn't anything approaching sporty (appearance, not personality-wise; I wouldn't know). Her beauty is rather old-fashioned, somewhat resembling of Jodie Foster at times. She looks very aristocratic and elegant. Contrary to my previous works, too, she wasn't in the least bit easy to iconise. I struggled with nearly all pictures until I could draw a significant message from them. I hope you enjoy these. =] Teasers:

Iconage (Brad Pitt Peta Wilson)

...I don't even like blondes that much.

Draco: *scowls*

-_-;; Anyhow... I thought I should keep you informed about the latest additions to Kaleidoscope *grins*

EDIT Now that I'm cross-posting to comms, better add in the Terms of Use: Like my icons? They're free for taking! Just please drop a comment telling me which icon you'll snag, and please do credit [info]lorielen in the keywords. Thank you.

Firstly, the famous batch of Brad Pitt icons I made, erm, three weeks ago? *blushes*

EDIT - teasers:

Twenty on Pitt )

Recently, there has been much posting of Peta Wilson pictures at [info]lfn_fans. I've taken the oportunity and my liking for Peta to search the web for fine pitures of her - same as Brad, I preferred non-acting pictures. Here's the result...

EDIT - teasers:

I guess this is it from me, for today. *winks*

I need to thank

- [info]killthwight for her latest package, which included a copy of Pride and Prejudice. There's no saying how much I'm dearly loving the book. Thank you so very very much, darling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel very flattered that you should share with me something so dear and special to you. Auden's style is fabulous, she says so much without actually writing too much and she's such a fine student of the human character. *sighs in glee*
- [info]justinetre for her latest two packages, full of love and the most adorable presents *squishes* I've misplaced my digicam, but as soon as I find it I shall do a photo-session with your most recent gift. I love it to pieces and I can't stop beaming at it. You're too cute to be true.

*huggles lovely, lovely f-list!*

*waves hand, with VC icons*

Hello =]

What have I been up to, lately? Gym, diet, uni work and reading like crazy. My eyes even hurt. I've been busy with many things, but managed to find the time to delight myself with The Plays of Oscar Wilde. I adore the man's writing, the way he words sentences, the characters he creates. I've read The Importance of Being Earnest, A woman of no importance and am halfway through Lady Windermere's fan. I find it fascinating how he inevitably weaves in the plot a character who can speak as eloquently as Wilde himself writes, and who shares his peculiar wit.

Other than that, I've just stopped by to say hello, hug you all and post five Louis, Lestat and Louie/Stat icons:

Vampire-centred )

I also wish to pass on an admirable iniciative I've seen at [info]sm_malfoy's journal:

Have You Left Your Comment Today?

[info]anaid_rabbit and [info]wide_ocean decided to start a movement to leave more comments and thus brighten up more peoples' lives. Think about how nice it would be if everyone would pledge to leave at least one comment a day that they otherwise wouldn't have left - maybe on a post where they were afraid to say something, or just something nice on a completely random journal.

In short: Take the pledge with us. Leave at least one additional comment on someone's LJ each day, and make the world a better place. Spread the love!

And make sure to post this last bit on your own journal, so that the love may indeed spread.

I love the idea; it's so wonderful coming home to an inbox full of tenderness and warmth.

*huggles lots*

Travis Fimmel icons

I've finally taken an afternoon to do what I've been dragging for months... Travis Fimmel icons with the wonderful bases by [info]star_dragon. A grand total of 18 icons, I'm quite proud, actually. *smiles*

I also want to thank [info]justinetre and [info]ldybastet for helping me give medical attention to a Malfoycest bunny that had been starving on my mind for almost an year. Justin dearie petted it, LdyBastet brought it some carrots and I think it'll grow healthily into a multi-chaptered. I hope. *winks*

all of it, really

Fandom memes.... I don't think I'll include all of my fandoms, because then it'd get too long. Nicked from practically everyone, but that I can remember, [info]soldurios and [info]anathdemalfoy.

#2 )

Spent practically all of my time awake with [info]dead_pen, today. Only fair since a) it's her birthday *squishes* and b) she's leaving town tomorrow and we won't be able to get in touch often. I wish her all the luck and joy in the world. May uni be great fun for her! The new layout I'm sporting features her artwork. I'd expand on just how much I adore this pic and how gorgeous it is, if only it hadn't reduced my brain to "GUH-GAH" mode ;] Go take a peek at the non-edited version here. I shall desperately fangirl her to my last breath.

*smiles* Since I'm at it, what say you to a few recs?

HP, LotR and Vampire Chronicles even )

I've made 13 icons today, featuring Tekken characters Jin, Hwoarang and the yaoi pairing JinxHwoarang. Which I'm thoroughly disappointed on because I can't find any truly good fic on it >.< I wasn't going to post them here, because they're already at [info]tekken_yaoi and damn, this entry is long enough as it is, but... I quite like them, and thirteen is a good number. So, here they are =] Teasers:

Three Devil Jin, two Jin, four Hwoarang and four JinxHwoarang = thirteen Tekken icons! )

Sorry about the snail pace at comment-replying, people. I'll see to it tomorrow, promise!

*POKE*Who else has seen The Aviator? Who else has fallen in near-blind worship of the Scorcese-DiCaprio partnership, Blanchett's captivating Kate Hepburn, Beckinsale's amazing Ava, the cuteness of John C. Reilly and, most of all, a man who can actually direct a film, who can make good use of soundtrack, special effects and deliver those incredible, classic takes that remind us of what film-making was supposed to be all about? *sighs in glee* I have yet to watch Million dollar baby but for now my Oscar preferences lie with one Martin Scorcese. And I loved it that he had Jude Law showing up as Errol Flynn. *amused* XD

*pops by*

Hello =]

some of you have met me online tonight *squishes [info]killthwight* On the 26th I went down to Florianópolis to spend the week and the New Year's Eve. It was... brilliant. The place is breath-taking, marvellous beaches, incredible food. The hotel was very very good and I made great friends there; hope I'll be keeping them! I'll post later with pictures... on the morning of January 2nd, we drove to Curitiba to stay at my uncle's - plenty of rest and LOTS of food. I had a great time. I'll post tomorrow maybe with pictures... should be leaving on Saturday, early morning, to the beach again.

To kill the time today while I waited for my internet conection to be arsed to work, I've made a few LotR icons. The ones featuring Miranda were made out of these bases by [info]justinetre; thanks, sweetie! I hope you like the makeup I've given your babies!!! The Éomer, Legolas and Orli ones were born out of RotK EE & extras caps by my dear [info]perseph2hades.

Only seven, maybe more are to come.. )

I'm almost sorry that I posted the prologue of Alabaster-Carved Galatea at [info]lucifersdragon, and that's because, as much as I love that story and my ongoing Green Mirrors, I haven't written a single word since Christmas and I don't think I will, at least until after Carnival or so. Which is in February. I'm sorry. ...well, although, I've had an injection of wounded pride lately, so maybe I will write after all. *shrugs*

I'd like to take this moment to thank everyone who replied to my last post *huggles* I read your comments on the 27th and you have no idea how much they improved my trip, and helped me relax and enjoy myself without feeling so guilty. You're all precious and I know I've been posting and posting and neglecting comments, and I'm sorry. Tomorrow is catching-up, as I promised [info]sm_malfoy. If you've got anything you want my opinion on, leave a poking comment!!!! =D

Icons!!!

Updating twice a day and writing lots? Go me!! =) This afternoon, after sunbathing in my yard - summer in Brasil! - I've written and polished some of the chapters of this longish H/D I'm working at. I'm delighted it seems to be uncurling from the depths of my mind and stirring into some stretching, at long last. I've been writing its first sketches since April.

Tonight I've gaped in awe at the Depp-Burton partnership. Those two gentlemen always make such wonderful work together. So I picked my favourite film and squealed in anticipation of their piece-to-come!

note to self: MUST finish watching Ed Wood.

four Edward Scissorhands and four Charlie and the Chocolate Factory icons )

Are you wondering where I got that nifty font with a tophat like Wonka's? Well, I happened to bypass Tim Burton Collective, a wonderful website. On my quest for Depp pics I also found this marvellous doodle of Burton's, representing Ed Scissorhads )

I really can't wait until the film comes out. *squirms* The pics that generated these bases have been shared with the much talented [info]nohumangrace (along with some mildly demented conversation, LOL); maybe we'll be lucky to see icons by her soon? ;)

I'm halfway through One Hundred Years of Solitude; I'm trying to make it a lengthy, leisurely read. It's a magnificent book, I'm in love. I've got one book by Stendhal next on my list, but I really am clueless as to the title in English, sorry. *goes off to sleep*

Icons!

I've crawled out of my fandom-procrastinating with.. icons!! =) Nothing grand really, but.. they humoured me for today. I hope you'll like them too!

4 Malfoycest, 1 Draco and 2 Slytherin icons )

Also, the Malfoycest ones shall fit in the "pride" section I'm planning for the archive, that shall house icons, banners, etc, everything for us L/D shippers to display our fetish proudly. I believe that after the coming Tuesday I'll be free from college for good, which means *pokes [info]butterballs* that I'll be writing that fic for the [info]hp_tradeoff challenge. Beware of mindless H/D fluff! *in a great mood*

Icons, icons *accomplished*

Today's been rather productive! At college this was a week of lectures and expositions of the multimediatic works made by students of my major (such as websites, videos, documentaries, etc) and today was the golden ending with workshops. Mine was on comic strips and it was absolutely wonderful!! *giddy* Anyhow, I present you something I've been working on for a few days now:

With bases by the wonderful [info]arwen_elvenfair *kisses the tip of her nose* who went through the trouble of screencapping the Boromir, Faramir & Denethor TTT:EE scene, I made a batch of icons. Hope they're of your liking =)

15 icons )

Free for sharing, you know where I stand on this. Just comment, let me know and credit me in the keywords please.
